PREPARING NATURAL HAIR BEFORE APPLYING EXTENSIONS

PREPARING NATURAL HAIR BEFORE APPLYING EXTENSIONS

Preparing natural hair before applying hair extensions is essential to ensure a seamless and long-lasting result.

Here are some steps you can follow to prepare natural hair for hair extension application:

1. Cleanse the hair:

Start by washing your natural hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup or excess oil. Make sure the hair is thoroughly clean and completely dry before proceeding.

2. Condition the hair:

Apply a good quality, hydrating conditioner to the hair after washing. Focus on the mid-lengths and ends, as these areas are usually the most damaged and in need of moisture. Rinse out the conditioner thoroughly.

3. Trim the hair (if necessary):

It's a good idea to get a trim before applying hair extensions. Trimming any split ends or damaged portions will help the extensions blend better with the natural hair and promote overall hair health.

4. Detangle the hair:

Gently comb through the hair to remove any tangles or knots. Use a wide-toothed comb or a specialized detangling brush to avoid causing unnecessary damage.

5. Avoid using heavy styling products:

Before the hair extension appointment, avoid using heavy styling products such as gels, waxes, or heavy oils. These can create residue on your hair, making it harder for the extensions to adhere properly.

6. Give the hair a break:

If you regularly use heat styling tools, try to give the hair a break from excessive heat before getting extensions. Heat can cause damage to your natural hair and it's essential to have a healthy base for the extensions to be attached to.
